When Thanking Your Plastic Surgeon In Public Becomes a Thing

As we gleaned from the recent New York Times Magazine article, nothing is sacred when it comes to the Kardashian-Jenner clan. Their lives are a live-action version of the Truman Show. “Bruce has no privacy; none of them do. That’s the deal they made with one another,” writer Taffy Brodesser-Akner sagely noted in the piece.
So it should be of little surprise that Caitlyn was seen posing for an Instagram photo with the most sacred person in her life right now…her plastic surgeon. The snap, which was posted by an employee of Caitlyn’s doctor, was accompanied by a caption that read: “So impressed by my boss Dr Harrison Lee’s phenomenal work and being part of Caitlyn’s transformation.” In the pic, Caitlyn is holding a cover of her yet-to-be-released issue of Vanity Fair which features her likeness. Scrawled across the magazine is her praise for her doctor: “To Harrison, Great Job. Thanks so much, Caitlyn Jenner.”
It’s safe to say that gone are the golden days of Hollywood, when women would sneakily see their surgeons, recover in private, and most likely deny that they’d had anything done. But then again, Caitlyn is a modern woman, and a new one at that. Plus, she has suffered in silence for 65 years. And if she didn’t reveal all, how else would her newly minted show, I Am Cait, survive? She’s already been vocal about her facial feminization surgery, which took place over 10 hours on March 15. It included a complicated brow lift as well as a reshaping of the jaw. (She also underwent breast augmentation by a second doctor.)
While Caitlyn is loving the limelight, other stars who have admittedly gone under the knife — like Cher, who has admitted to “loving plastic surgery” — are less inclined to pose with their surgeon for all the world to see. What a boon for Dr. Lee! Given the positive response to Jenner’s looks, Dr. Lee might want to upgrade to a bigger office because soon the world will come knocking. (If only Iggy Azalea or Nene Leakes had done the same!) But hey, that’s Cait! Tune into her show to find out what she’ll do next!
