Was Amy Schumer Channeling Beyoncé in This Oscar Instagram?

While Amy Schumer wasn’t in attendance at the Oscars, that didn’t stop her from having a little fun with the award show. The comedian posted a photo to Instagram wrapped in what looks like a pink and green comforter with pink fur trim.

“What to wear? #oscars,” she captioned the photo. She paired the bulky … blanket … with fur-trimmed lace-up booties and the accessory we all need: a coffee cup. Her hair was messily done up.

Obviously this was a joke — she’s known to poke fun at the high-end habits of the entertainment and fashion industry. Does the hashtag Balmain ring a bell?

But where did she get the idea to wrap herself in a blanket? Could it have been … Beyoncé? That’s who we thought of when we saw the down “dress.” It looked a little bit like the big, $22,000 Gucci kimono Bey wore to the NBA All-Star Game last week. The green-and-red floral robe with a light blue silk lining looked like something we’d want to snuggle up with in bed. While the coverup was technically a kimono, it teetered between kimono and comforter.

And if Schumer was channeling the singer in her Oscar post, she wasn’t the only one inspired by this look. John Mayer shared an image of Beyoncé in the kimono — which also featured a purple fur-lined collar — on Instagram, deeming in the look of the year. “I’m not one to pander, so please believe me when I say it: this is the fit of the year. Everyone else just wear sweats. It’s over. Go home,” the usually reserved singer gushed.

So as of now, Beyoncé, Mayer, and Schumer are all fans of blanket dressing. Is this the new trend? Being ridiculously cozy all the time? If so, we are totally on board … or should be say in bed?
