There’s a video of a real life hippogriff and we’re freaking out because Hogwarts must be real

The wizarding world of Harry Potter is way more than just the epic battle between good and evil. With her novels and the subsequent films, J.K. Rowling created a whole vivid universe filled with loveable (and hatable) characters, as well as magic, history, and even it’s own animals. We really wanted to get our Hogwarts letter, head to the castle, and not only learn magic but become part of Hagrid’s Care of Magical Creatures class.

We were always fascinated by the blast ended skrewts, unicorns, flobberworms, thestrals, and, of course, hippogriffs. In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban we were enthralled by Buckbeak, the hippogriff that would later whisk Sirius Black away from a horde of dementors (and not just because the creature maimed Draco Malfoy). There was something so regal about the creature, which was a sort of bird and horse hybrid.

However, now we’ve seen something that’s making us question EVERYTHING.

A video has been shared to YouTube that appears to show an animal that is almost identical to a hippgriff.

Called a shoebill stork, the bird, like a hippogriff, requires a person to bow before approaching it. Like Buckbeak, the shoebill stork must first bow back to you ahead of any interaction, otherwise it’ll just fly away.

This video of Sushi, the shoebill stork, shows people performing this ritual.

Sushi lives at the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre in Entebb. The species is said to be so rare that only 5000 are estimated to left alive in the world.

Okay, is anyone else freaking out because we are? If hippogriffs are real then what else is?

Is there a secret Hogwarts school tucked away somewhere that we should know about? Are we just boring muggles? What about he who must not be named!?
