Tyra Banks Made a Lot of Awesome Outfit Changes at the Daytime Emmy Awards

Tyra Banks is a woman of many talents. She conquered the modeling world, brought those skills to American’s Next Top Model to teach future generations her talents, took some Harvard Business School courses, created her own makeup line, and can now add awards show host to her diverse and very long résumé. On Sunday, the 41-year-old made her ceremony debut at the Daytime Emmy Awards, and while her extroverted personality proved to be a perfect fit for the gig, her fashion chops played a major part in pulling it off.

Wearing four different outfits throughout the night — all designed by Bryan Hearns — Banks stunned in each of the out-there looks. First out of the gate was a “fierce” black jumpsuit with a sheer panel across the chest and the same detail lining her arms. She was “werkin’” this black number on the red carpet.

Changing from one jumpsuit to another, Banks traded sheer paneling for a sheer cape that she played around with á la a superhero onstage.

Keeping with the jumpsuit theme, she switched into her third of the night to present an award and take a pause from her hosting duties. She wore a wide-legged beige piece with leather bustier that had only one shoulder and an attached choker necklace. The neutral shade popped against her fellow presenters’ all-black looks, which included Yahoo Style’s very own Joe Zee, Chrissy Teigen, Lauren Makk, and Lea Ashley, hosts of the forthcoming talk show, The Fab. If there were any possible way to distract from Teigen’s dangerously low-cut dress that nearly revealed her chest, it would be to break from the crowd.

Back to black, she switched the silhouette up with a dress — kind of. Part leotard and part sheer slip, this hybrid piece featured an overwhelming amount of details: a tuxedo top, sequin and safety-pin embellishments, and long sleeves with fingerless gloves attached. Confusing, but with Banks’s fierceness— to borrow her favorite word — she pulled it off.

For the grand finale, the supermodel kept it cohesive, channeling elements from former “lewks” in a red sheath. It might have just one gratuitous sleeve, but despite this odd component, this was one of her best.

As she wrote herself on Twitter alongside a photo sashaying through the studio lot in the red number: “She came. She rapped. She dropped a mic. She crawled on all fours. She’s cray.” Add “she made a lot of amazing fashion changes” to that list too, Tyra!
