The seventh season of Game of Thrones is well underway with second episode Stormborn, airing this week. Read on to find out when, where, and how to watch the rest of the new season.

When can I watch the new episode of Game of Thrones?

The second episode, Stormborn, aired in the US on Sunday, July 23, at 9pm. It was shown on Sky Atlantic in the UK at the same time, meaning that, because of the time difference, many fans watched it at 2am on Monday, July 24. Here's a recap of that episode.

The next instalment of Game of Thrones, The Queen's Justice, will arrive in just under a week, also on Sunday at 9pm EST, and the same time in the UK. It will be aired again on Sky Atlantic at 9pm on Monday, 31 July. Here's the episode's trailer:

What to expect from episode 3, The Queen's Justice

Here's HBO's minimal, not overly informative, official summary of the episode: “Daenerys holds court. Cersei returns a gift. Jaime learns from his mistakes.”

The trailer holds more clues. Euron is given a hero's welcome in King's Landing; Tyrion delivers a dire warning about his sister; and the Unsullied go into battle, possibly meaning the death of a beloved character.

What time is Game of Thrones on in the UK?

Every week, the latest episode airs in the US at 9pm and is aired simultaneously in the UK at 2am on Sky Atlantic and on on-demand service Now TV, meaning dedicated British fans can watch at the same time as people over the pond.

However if you're confident you can avoid spoilers for a day you can wait until Monday evening, when both Sky Atlantic and Now TV repeat the episode at a more UK-friendly time of 9pm.

Where can I watch it?

If you prefer watching Cersei's machinations as they air, you can watch each episode on Sky Atlantic and Now TV

Plus, if you're not willing to skirt spoiler-heavy headlines over the Monday but can't bear the idea of staying up until the early hours, you can watch the latest episode any time after 2am today using either service.

How many episodes will there be in season 7?

While all six seasons of Game of Thrones so far have had 10 episodes, executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss revealed last year that the final two seasons (7 and 8) will be shorter. Season 7 will have seven episodes and season 8 will have six - however fans fearing they'll see less action don't need to worry.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister, told Entertainment Weekly earlier this year: “Everything happened quicker than I’m used to… a lot of things that normally take a season now take one episode." The season 7 premiere will reportedly be 59 minutes long and the final episode of of this season is set to run for a whopping 81 minutes.

Why is this season airing later in the year?

For years we've been waiting for winter to come - and, finally, in season six it did. This means that filming has had to take place later in the year, leading the latest season to air a little later than its usual April start date.

Benioff and Weiss told the UFC Unfiltered podcast last year: "Winter is here - and that means that sunny weather doesn’t really serve our purposes any more. So we kind of pushed everything down the line, so we could get some grim grey weather even in the sunnier places that we shoot."

What can we expect from the new season?

Rumours have been swirling around the new season ever since last year's finale, with fans assuming Daenerys will finally revisit Westeros, the Starks will reunite, and the White Walkers will keep pushing south. But will Daenerys meets Westeros' most recent royal, Cersei? Will Jon Snow take on The Night King again? And will The Mountain finally fight The Hound?

Plus, with Ed Sheeran popping up in a cameo and Jim Broadbent taking on a "significant role", there are a lot of new characters to root for (before they are inevitably killed off).
