The Miss Universe pageant fever is officially here with some of the contestants already arriving in Manila, the Philippines, ahead of the grand final on 29 Jan.

On the official pageant Facebook page, organisers have begun posting photos of current Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach to promote the event. The security within the city has reportedly been heightened in the lead up to the pageant. However, there will be no road closures, as instructed by the country’s new president Rodrigo Duterte. The last time the Philippines hosted the pageant was in 1994.

US comedian Steve Harvey will continue to host Miss Universe 2017 despite disapproval from Duterte. Harvey committed an embarrassing gaffe in the previous pageant when he mistakenly announced the wrong winner.

Student Cheryl Chou will be representing Singapore in the international pageant to compete against more than 90 contestants for the coveted crown. Singapore has never won the Miss Universe title since its formation in 1952. The highest position Singaporean had attained was in the top 10, back when Singapore hosted the event in 1983.

Here’s a list of some of the people who will be vying for the title next month:
