You can make your own buttermilk by mixing store-bought cultured buttermilk, whole milk, and Kosher salt. Let it sit for three days and voilà: buttermilk. Now let’s fry some chicken, bake some pound cake, and generally enjoy this naturally low-fat ingredient’s tangy goodness.
