Taylor Swift Is a Magazine Editor Now

What can’t Taylor Swift conquer? [Insert inappropriate joke about her dating life here.] For Glamour UK’s June issue, the singer guest-edited the magazine for a #TaylorGlamourTakeover. She appears on the cover in a white laser-cut dress from Valentino and the pages will reveal her “rules for life,” the women who made her, and where she likes to hang out. “I had so much fun writing pieces and personalizing it,” she wrote on Instagram of the experience. “What a treat.”

In the feature story on Swift with an interview, which she presumably did not conduct on herself or edit, she admitted that widespread mockery of her romantic life is what motivated her into taking a hiatus from dating. “It’s kind of a sad way I got there though, being shamed into it,” she told the magazine. “What else is it when you have two boyfriends in one year and everyone’s calling you boy crazy, making jokes about you at awards shows? That’s public humiliation. And I don’t think its fair.” She added, “There is no easy way for me to engage with romance. I’m really busy, so I can’t. And it’s a good thing that I feel really independent and I feel that my friends are all I need.”

The 25-year-old, who will be headed on tour soon to promote her latest album 1989, has also faced criticism over her carefully cultivated image, which seems to shift with the release of new work. But through these changes, she’s avoided any sexual imagery and maintained the friendly and approachable girl next door. “You know, everybody has different priorities as an artist…Every woman has different things that make them feel strong and powerful,” she explained. “For me, I don’t have any need or urge to write about overt sexuality. It just never occurs to me. I appreciate girls who sing about whatever they want, because that’s what they want to sing about.”

While the singer has a slew of A-list BFFs, it’s her mother, Andrea, who Swift recently revealed is battling cancer, that keeps her down to earth. “My mom is really good at putting things back into perspective for me. And it’s really nice when she says, ‘I know there’s no way I could possibly understand what you’re going through, but here’s what I think…’” She continued: “And sometimes it does feel unfair, but then I walk into my apartment that I can’t believe I could afford to buy and it doesn’t feel so unfair any more.”
