Since she launched her high-end clothing line in 2008, Victoria Beckham has been, ahem, sew successful. Her frocks have been worn by Selena Gomez to the Jingle Ball in 2015, Jennifer Lopez to an NBC winter TCA appearance, and Kerry Washington to the 2016 NAACP Image Awards.

So you could say her fashion plate is quite full. And yet Beckham is the latest clothier to partner with Target for an affordable line of irresistible ensembles for women and kids, launching on April 9. Yahoo Style talked to the mother of four, via email, about her chic choices. And don’t let her ultraserious expression in photos fool you: In person, Beckham is giggly, very funny, and extremely personable.

Yahoo Style: Describe your feelings when you first found out that you’re doing a Target collaboration.
Victoria Beckham: Excited! The collection includes my first-ever designs for children, which is something I’ve wanted to do for such a long time now. So the idea of getting started on that was fun. I was also happy to know that I would be able to reach a wider group of women with this collaboration. It’s very accessible, and there’s something there for everyone — including those who either don’t want to, or can’t afford to, pay designer prices.

How did you incorporate your Victoria Beckham aesthetic into a diffusion line for Target?
The Target collection is inspired by my Victoria, Victoria Beckham line and all my favorite VVB designs over the years — like the collared shift dress and the matching tank top and flares. I always say the VVB line is like the other, more playful, side to my wardrobe. It’s very charming, very feminine. The Target collection reflects that perfectly and really captures that upbeat VVB aesthetic.

What’s the one staple that’s always in your closet?
A classic white shirt. It works with anything and will never go out of style.

Is there something you put on that instantly makes you feel like YOU?
A pair of sunglasses. I rarely leave the house without them. They cover a multitude of sins and give any outfit a bit of attitude. My go-to pair at the moment are my Flat Top Aviators.”

Do you ever want to design a children’s collection with/for your daughter?
Well, the children’s designs in my Target collaboration were definitely created with Harper in mind, and very much inspired by her too. There are so many cute pieces in the collection for kids, and toddlers and babies too. It has Harper’s seal of approval, which is always a good sign! She loves all the ruffle-trim dresses and cotton blouses.

How has your personal style evolved as your fashion business has grown like gangbusters? Meaning, do you find yourself dressing more for comfort these days?
I think my style has become a lot more relaxed over the years. I suppose I feel I can express myself in a different way now. I wear looser clothes, flat shoes, trainers. My job and my family life means I need to be able to move around and be free and comfortable in what I’m wearing, so I think that’s definitely had an impact.
