Top celebrity stylist Kate Young is busy prepping some of the most famous names in Hollywood for the highly anticipated Met Gala on Monday night. But she took time out of her schedule to point out a rude comment she received over direct message on Instagram relating to her skill set.

She captioned a screenshot of the message, concerning pop star Selena Gomez‘s style, with a sarcastic caption, writing, “Thanks for the pep talk #metgala.”

“Listen, sweetiepie. I get that you want to be edgy and have a new sort of look for the people you dress (I think it’s mostly Selena but ok) but you seriously need to stop. Just … stop. All the looks you hook her up in are unflattering, weird and most of the time not even in the right size. It’s ok to follow trend. Get creative in it, but don’t go completely far from it. It’s an advice that you should really take. We are done with the ugly looks and how … unflattering she looks. K?” the direct message read.

Seeing as to how Selena Gomez has such a devoted fanbase and a massive Instagram following of 119 million, it’s not surprising that her stylist faces mixed feedback at times for some of Gomez’s looks. However, many users were quick to defend Young on the social platform, praising the stylist.

“Just laugh at the nonsense that person is saying, YOU’RE KILLING THE GAME KATE,” one user added. “You never disappoint us! All the looks of Dakota [Johnson] and Selena are the BOMB. Keep the amazing work,” another commented. Gomez herself even found the post comical, leaving a number of laughing emojis in the comments.

Young, who is represented by top talent agency The Wall Group, has an impressive roster of clients, including big names like Dakota Johnson, Miranda Kerr, Sienna Miller, Margot Robbie, Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams, Alicia Keys, and Salma Hayek, among others. She also has been featured many times on The Hollywood Reporter‘s annual list of Hollywood Power Stylists.

It will certainly be interesting to see how Gomez’s fanbase responds to her look for tonight’s Met Gala — and what Young has to say in response.
