Carrie Bradshaw may have pranced around New York City in flashy, fabulous fashions by Patricia Field, but when it comes to real life, Sarah Jessica Parker is passionate about the little black dress. She’s such a die-hard fan of the wardrobe staple that on Tuesday the actress and sartorial icon announced via Instagram that she is launching a collection of little black dresses, perfectly named SJP LBD. The line will become in available in October exclusively at Bloomingdale’s.

The frocks have a personal touch too: Parker proclaimed that the dresses were all designed by her. They’re also “made proudly in the USA,” she wrote in a message to fans. The dresses will become the latest addition to Parker’s New York City-based fashion label, SJP Collection, which sells shoes handcrafted in Italy “by a third-generation Tuscan shoemaker,” according to her website.

Parker has been teasing a new project for a while now, and though she has finally revealed a dress collection is forthcoming, she is intent on maintaining the suspense. She wrote that the SJP LBD line will debut with a silhouette that’s still a surprise — and that more designs will follow after the mystery LBD is unveiled.

In the video clip that accompanies her Instagram announcement, the chipper star is seen dancing and twirling in a tea-length black dress — part of the collection and a design she says she has been “practically living in” — and making a revolving door her personal merry-go-round. “The wheels (and doors) never stop spinning…” she captioned the playful video.

Fans are over the moon about the news. “I so love it!!! So happy that I’m traveling to NYC in December and that I can twirl in it,” one person commented. “I will be the first buyer!” another proclaimed. Others were simply happy to watch SJP’s moves. “Please keep teasing us, love watching you dance, so so gorgeous,” someone commented.

Parker has a long and glamorous history of rocking LBDs. She worked black dresses like nobody’s business at the Kennedy Center Honors, her wedding day in 1997, and the premiere of the second Sex and the City movie, where she stunned in an bubble-hemmed frock by Alexander McQueen.
