For a generation of kids (and of course, adults), there was no greater rallying slogan than “Moon prism power, make up!” Sailor Moon particularly continues to influence fashion and beauty in new ways.

And for Russian figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva, Sailor Moon was the obvious choice of inspiration for her Dreams on Ice showcase skate.

With giant pigtails in tow, Medvedeva unleashed a technically-fantastic skate to several Sailor Moon songs. But the best part of the routine has to be her extremely magical costume transformation sequence into that iconic Sailor Moon costume:

Now, Medvedeva may just be the “Sailor Moon” skating to casual observers, but she’s actually the 2016 world champion in figure skating. In two years, she’s likely to be representing Russia at the 2018 Pyeong Chang Winter Olympics.

On top of her considerable figure skating creds, Medvedeva is also a hardcore Sailor Moon fan. That figure skating performance wasn’t just a one-off obsession: She reps her fandom all over her Instagram account.

It's impossible! Many many Sailor Moon thank you, Japanese fans!

She even met Sailor Moon creator Naoko Takeuchi and had an appropriately fangirling reaction:

For the keen-eyed, it’s clear that Medvedeva isn’t just interested in Sailor Moon. Check out this reference to the figure skating anime (!) Yuri on Ice:

Here’s to more people putting a new twist on fandom culture. Shine on, Evgenia; your Scouts are with you.
