The White House hosted a reception for the much-beloved Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Thursday, and one of Canada’s favorite sons, Ryan Reynolds, totally stole the spotlight. But with the amazing Blake Lively on his arm, no other Canadian had a chance.

The couple looked absolutely stunning in their formal wear. Ryan sported a dark blue suit and white bow tie, while Blake shined in a shimmering silver draped by Ralph & Russo. Other Canadian stars present included Michael J. Fox, Sandra Oh, Mike Myers, and Martin Short. What a fun group!

Ryan Reynolds took to Facebook to brag about the party and to compliment the Canadian Prime Minister:

Very fortunate to meet Prime Minister @justinpjtrudeau at the White House last night. Not only is he a warrior for equality & the environment but one helluva hugger.

Canada was not just represented by the attendees, but by many attendees’ fashion choices, as well. For example, Michelle Obama’s dress, a midnight blue floral jacquard gown, came from designer Jason Wu, who was born in Taiwan and raised in British Columbia. The prime minister’s wife wore a purple dress with floral trim designed by Canadian designer Lucian Matis. Both dresses are absolutely lovely.

Despite all the glam, according to the New York Times, the formal event actually had “the air of a belated family reunion,” which is absolutely adorable and what you’d expect from a country known for its friendliness.
