Teens, once bootstrapped for cash, apparently have increased disposable incomes — at least based on the elaborate promposals seen throughout 2017 so far.
However, Caitlan and Louis might take the cake for the most ostentatious of the year. Caitlan is a high school senior from Houston, Tex. and she’s going to prom with her friend Louis, who asked her using a $675 pair of high heels and fancy cosmetics.
Louis made a sign that read “If the shoe fits, makeup your mind.” He bought Caitlan makeup from Sephora, along with a pair of Christian Louboutin pumps — which the teens say are real and retail for $675.
Caitlan tells Yahoo she’s not exactly sure how her date, a high school junior, could afford such a luxurious item. “I believe his mom bought them,” she says.
Here’s what Twitter had to say about it:

Some were blown away by the romanticism:
@caitlannnn_ This promposal was really nice, look how happy he is to be asking you

While others were concerned about their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
While the teens are surprised by the reaction to their promposal, they’re busy prepping for the big night. “It’s actually this weekend,” Caitlan says. “I’ve had my dress for like a month, I’ve been so excited.”
