When you're heirs to the British Monarchy, you'd be forgiven for thinking that pretty much anything goes. After all, wealth, travel, contacts and fashion know no limits.
Unless, you're the Duke and Duchess' children Prince George and Princess Charlotte, that is.
In a cover-story for US Weekly, sources reveal Prince William and Kate Middleton are making a conscious effort to make things as 'normal' as possible for their two children growing up under the public's scrutiny, the media's watchful eye, and among a family whose nominal assets are estimated at a whopping £22.8 billion.
As a result, there's one sort of thing, in particular, that William and Kate have put a blanket ban on during the children's early years – and that's technological stimulation in the form of iPads.
A source tells the publication: 'They're very much seen as Mummy and Daddy's toys, not for children . . . As two people who grew up without gadgets for entertainment themselves, William and Kate are firm believers in toys, outdoor play, and encouraging an active imagination. They're very much a normal family,' they added.
Yes, a normal family if you call meeting the former President of the US Barack Obama in your dressing gown, traveling around the world, and calling the Queen your 'gan gan'.
When it comes to playtime, one source claims George is said to 'love anything on wheels', while Charlotte is obsessed with the fantasy-world of princesses.
'I don't think it's quite dawned on her that she's a princess herself,' a family friend told the magazine.
However, it sounds like the Royal Family's celebrity status is finally dawning on the three-year-old, with sources revealing he's 'at an age where he's starting to realise that the world he lives in is different to his friends'.
'He's full of questions and curiosity about everything around him . . . He's growing up to be a very confident young boy,' they added, admitting he's very inquisitive around his father.
Meanwhile, Charlotte is a true mummy's girl.
'Wherever Kate goes, so does Charlotte,' they added. Even when Kate or the housekeeper are cooking in the kitchen, the two-year-old will set up 'er own toy set by her side to imitate,' they concluded.
With a third baby potentially on the cards, according to Kate, during her royal tour of Poland last week, we can't wait to see what's in store for the royal brood in years to come.
