Plus-Size Model Ashley Graham Plans on Landing The Next Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Cover
The recently released 2015 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue has been the talk of the town—and not just because of Hannah Davis’s infamous cover where she is tugging at her bottoms. The glossy—which hit newsstands on Feb. 9—also features plus-size model Ashley Graham. Graham, who is a size 16, stars in an ad called swimsuitsforall, and it’s the first time that a plus-size woman has been included in the annual issue. (Though you can find Australian model Robyn Lawley in the 2015 edition, too.)
In an exclusive interview, Yahoo Global News Anchor Katie Couric sat down with the 26-year-old Graham to discuss her Sports Illustrated press coup and how this new “curvy girl” phenomenon sends an important message to women everywhere. “I plan on being on the cover of Sports Illustrated next year,” says Graham. When Couric asked if she thinks that’s actually possible, the model was resolute in her response. “For sure. Yes,” she said. If there’s a will there’s a way—and there’s no doubt Graham is determined!
