Pink Is the Hottest Color According to Lady Gaga
On the album artwork for her latest project, Joanne, Lady Gaga prominently wears a pink full-brimmed hat. For her appearance on Good Morning America to promote the album’s release, the stylish star opted to wear the hue head to toe: coat, fitted blazer, shorts, and heels included. And while chic, the megastar’s look was also a forecast of Spring 2017 trends.

Gaga’s look in particular was a custom design by CG, the brand from former Vogue Fashion Fund nominee Chris Gelinas. While custom, the look was no doubt a riff on an all navy suit-and-short look from the designer’s Spring 2017 collection. While the idea of a suit exudes a bit of sophistication, the Daisy Duke-length shorts inject an undeniable sex appeal into the look. The ensemble is, no doubt, another win for the designer, who has been a finalist for the US Regional Woolmark Prize as well as the LVMH Prize. Gaga topped her take on the look with a duster coat. But we shouldn’t be surprised that pink was the chosen hue for the ensemble.
Anyone with a semblance of a handle on lifestyle trends has noticed the omnipresence of “Tumblr Pink.” According to Fashionista, the shade has appeared everywhere: “Calvin Klein ads, Vans Old Skools, Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’ cover art, Gucci runway shows, shopping bags, and Bentley convertibles.” And that was back in August, before fashion week occurred!

In Paris, pink turned up in a variety of shades as dresses. Céline went the Tumblr route with a draped number that involved a cape, while the likes of Balenciaga and Valentino took a more fuchsia route. In fact, that shade could be more accurately described as Pink Yarrow, according to Pantone, who identified it as an important one for the trend weeks before the shows’ debuts.
In Milan, Bottega Veneta and Fendi sent down their pink options, while Michael Kors and Jason Wu had a few on options on hand. No doubt, the most outsize representation of the color was the Gucci show, which even filtered its lights with the color. So Gaga definitely has her finger on the pulse.
Thank you Manuel for dressing JOANNE.

Of course, this isn’t the only time she’s worn the color recently. For the first stop of her dive bar tour in Asheville, the singer and songwriter wore a Manuel Cuevas custom creation. While her jacket was yellow, the large floppy tie around her neck was Tumblr pink, embroidered with roses. Only days before, she was sporting a silk bomber jacket with pink sleeves in the same color.
