I have this perfect little black dress. I can wear this LBD to anything with any kind of crowd and I always get compliment. Everyone always asks where I got it and no one believes the answer.

I wasn’t even shopping for a dress at all when I found the perfect travel dress. I was shopping for shorts in the sporting goods section. Who knew that Columbia even sold dresses? They do and they’re cute. They call this number the “Take Me Anywhere Dress.”

I bought it, thinking it would work well for casual nights on my upcoming cruise vacation.

Cute, right? And you can wear it over and over again! (Photo: Columbia)

I’m no fashionista; I live and travel in casual clothes, so a dress from Columbia made sense to me.

But then I needed something fancy! I didn’t intend to wear a dress from Columbia Sportswear on formal night of a luxury cruise, sitting at the staff captain’s table, no less. It just sort of happened.

When you get invited to sit with the captain, you go…..and I had nothing to wear.

Then this LBD really showed its stuff. Worn with black hose and topped with the dark jacket I pulled off formal dining in a room where plenty of others were in black tie. No one even noticed the tiny Columbia logo on the hem.

This dress checks off all the boxes for the perfect travel dress inexpensive, lightweight, easy-to-wash fabric, and above all, comfortable for travel adventures.

A quick wash and dry allowed me to wear the dress several times. The best part? The loose fit allowed room for all that cruise food!

The dress is lightweight—an amazing 5 ounces. It folds into a tiny square like lingerie, practically disappearing in my suitcase yet it arrived almost wrinkle-free, even after a twenty-three hour travel day. It has a hidden zippered pocket on one side seam which lets me leave my purse back in my room.

It also has all manner of practical features like Columbia’s technology called Omni-Wick that allows for quick moisture evaporation, plus a UPF sun protection of 30 and antimicrobial treatment that resists odors.

Columbia knows they have a winner with this one. After I fell accidentally in love with this dress I wrote to them asking about it.

“We’re very focused on designing styles that are truly versatile, especially for travel,” Heather O’Brien, a manager on the product merchandise team for the outfitter told me. “We know that people don’t want to lug their entire closet on a trip. People want designs that are ultra-comfortable, easy to wear, and offer true simplicity so they look and feel great wherever their travels take them.”

This perfect travel dress has sold out on Columbia’s website, but Amazon still has them. Get ‘em while you can!
