#NowTrending: Actual Dolls on the Runway

Ever think that you were too old to play with dolls? Not anymore! A plethora of plastic poppets (actually plastic, not injections!) have stormed the Spring 2015 runways thus far. It all started with the CFDA x Barbie event in New York where the queen bee herself hosted an exclusive lounge sesh during fashion week featuring one-off designs by the likes of Charlotte Ronson, Rebecca Taylor, and Tess Giberson. Then in Milan, Barbie was the muse for Jeremy Scott’s entire Moschino collection. (Frilly dresses? Check. Skimpy bathing suits? Check. Big blonde bouffant, oh you see where we’re going with this.) Those privileged enough to sit in the front row were even treated to a special collectable Moschino Barbie. And last night, before the fashion flock packed up for Paris, designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana sent a few of their Spanish beauties down the runway carrying their likenesses packaged in a beautiful box with a handle. The inspiration was a woman who had traveled to Spain and returned to Sicily with a gift. What’s next, Ken walks in Calvin Klein?
