The Nike x Supreme x CDG Shirt Air Force 1 Is 2017's Most Collaboration-Happy Sneaker

By Jake Woolf.

Nike's Air Force 1 is an icon even among the brand's many, many game-changing silhouettes and lately, even though you can find a pair just about anywhere sneakers are sold, the style is in demand more than ever. It could have something to do with Nike offering up AF1's in a slew of fresh colorways and new materials (Flyknit, premium leather varieties under the NikeLab label) over the last year. They've also handed the design reins over to some of the biggest names in sneakers, like Ronnie Fieg—who dropped an Air Force 1 "Linen" last fall—and A$AP Bari, whose "VLONE" Air Force 1 has been one of the most coveted sneaker releases of 2017. That said, the hype around Fieg and Bari's AF1 collabs were practically warmups compared to what we'd expect for Nike's latest collaboration with Supreme and Comme des Garçons SHIRT.

The sneaker is part of a bigger collection of Supreme x CDG products, which includes two suits, a shirt, wallets, hoodies, tees, and a fishtail parka. Comme des Garçons fans know the brand doesn't shy away from left-of-center prints and patterns, and this capsule collection follows suit, boasting an eye motif that's reminiscent of A Clockwork Orange (Cool from afar, potentially unsettling up close). The print is featured near the heel of what is otherwise a clean, white leather Nike Air Force 1 low top. It's not the boldest AF1 we've ever seen (see: the Supreme Air Force 1 from 2014), but in typical Supreme collaboration form, it's a signature addition that will make sure these sneakers sell out in seconds.

Other than these kicks—which don't drop till May—the pieces that are sure to generate the most hype are the ones with the Supreme logo on them—the hoodies and tees. Previously CDG has flipped Supreme's classic logo by reversing it on hoodies and tees, but here they took even more liberties by rendering it in a folded, crinkled-up fashion (likely inspired by the ads Stephen J Shanabrook did for CDG back in 2010). Comme des Garçons has a thing for the unexpected, but to us, the coolest and most unexpected purchase from this collaboration might be the black suit. It might not attract the eyeballs of some of the other pieces, but also, well, doesn't have a bunch of eyeballs printed all over it.

Supreme x Comme des Garçons SHIRT will be available April 13 at supremenewyork.com
