Miss Universe Organization Launches #FindingMiss52 to Find One Additional Contestant for Miss USA

You could be the one.

The Miss Universe Organization launched a new campaign on Wednesday in the hopes of finding their 52nd contestant for this summer's upcoming Miss USA competition.

"Miss USA is someone who is strong, determined and confident," President of the Miss Universe Organization Paula M. Shugart said in a press release. "Our competition celebrates women from all background and with Finding Miss 52, we hope to inspire more women to step out of their comfort zones and experience the amazing opportunities our organization offers."

This will be the first year that the pageant, which usually hosts 51 contestants – one from each state and one from the District of Columbia – will welcome a 52nd woman to the stage.

The search for Miss 52 has officially begun and the organization is now accepting applications, which will be reviewed by "an expert judging panel who will ultimately select the top 10 #FindingMiss52 finalists based on originality/creativity, personality and a web interview."

On May 10, after the top ten women are selected, voting will open to the public to choose the winner who will go on to compete with the other 51 ladies.

The 2016 Miss USA competition airs live on Fox on June 5 at 7 p.m. ET.
