You Can Have a Michelin-Star Picnic in London's Hyde Park

Scoring a reservation at a Michelin-rated restaurant is wonderful, but also something of a production. If you want get top-notch food without the pricey tasting menus or the wait, now the Baglioni Hotel London has the perfect answer for you.

Starting in April and continuing through August, guests can opt to book the Italian Picnic Experience package (starting at $2,375 a night), which comes with a stay in one of Baglioni Suites, complete with a private terrace and complimentary chauffeur-driven Maserati, continental breakfast for two for the duration of the stay, and a bottle of Bollicine from family-owned Italian winery Ferrari Trento upon arrival. Plus, guests also get a picnic prepared by Michelin-starred chef Alberto Rossetti, who served as head chef of Parma's Al Tramezzo for fifteen years. With a meal-for-two in hand, you can head across the street to the famous London park to enjoy fine dining in a more relaxed location.

“An afternoon picnic in Hyde Park is a magical experience, and the seasonal picnic baskets we’ve created are designed to enhance the park’s timeless charm," Rossetti told Condé Nast Traveler. "We want to offer our guests the opportunity to have an experience that is completely unique to London, but with an Italian twist.”

And since this is a Michelin-worthy meal after all, you can expect quite feast. In April and May, that includes an Italian flatbread with grilled vegetables, dry tomatoes and scamorza cheese; rice with quail egg, asparagus and taggiasche olives; crudités with balsamic vinaigrette and olives pâté; potato rosemary focaccia; and frangipane cake with homemade berries jam. For the summer months, the menu changes slightly with a Parma ham flatbread, mozzarella and rocket salad or York and ricotta cheese salad; a seasonal fruit salad, and carrot cake.

And who knows? Maybe you'll end up dining next to a celebrity like actress Rosamund Pike, who just told Traveler the park is one of her favorite lounging spots in London. Even if you don't, you've still got an award-winning meal in a beautiful park—and that's tough to beat.
