If you’ve been following awards season, you’ve undoubtedly noticed that Jennifer Aniston has taken a risqué approach to red carpet dressing. And why not? Basking in the recognition of critics and peers for her role in Cake, it is the actress’s time to shine. Helping to add an extra bit of sparkle to her bosom is designer Sat Hari of Amrit Jewelry. Hari, who was born in the U.S. and went to school in India, is the creator of the black diamond body chain and necklace that Aniston wore to the Critics Choice Awards and last night’s SAG Awards. Here she explains how she got her start, Aniston’s favorite pieces, and how you, too, can rock a body chain.

Yahoo Style: When did you first begin designing jewelry?
Sat Hari: I started when I was at boarding school in India as a teenager. I loved the color of Indian gold and the gemstones and how they danced together. I didn’t always intend to work in design, it came about organically out of my love for the healing properties of the stones and how they can energize and inspire people…and I just LOVE jewelry!

YS: What is the ethos behind your brand?
SH: I strive to create pieces that have deeper symbolic meanings and carry sacred blessings for the wearer. I want women to feel the sensual elegance of wearing our pieces so that they experience more joy and loving inside of themselves about themselves.

YS: Jennifer Aniston certainly seems to be a fan, how did that come about? Did she come and pick it out herself?

SH: Ryan Hastings and Jena Covello introduced our line to her, and we are so honored that she liked our pieces and chose to wear them.

YS: Can you describe piece or pieces that she has worn thus far?
SH:
At the Critics Choice Awards she wore a Black Diamond “Make Love” Lariat Necklace. It has eleven black diamonds dropping down off of a gold chain, with a small lotus gold ending that has a sanskrit Hu symbol on it representing awakening to the sound of God. Black diamonds represent completion and strength, and in yogic traditions, eleven is the number of mastery. At the SAG Awards, Jennifer wore our “Make Love” Black Diamond Body Chain that has similar elements, but it wraps the body fully in gold with the black diamonds touching the front and back of the heart area. The gold lotus medallion on the front of the body chain also has a diamond, and the word LOVE written on the back touching the skin.

YS: Who else has worn your jewelry?
SH: Jennifer and Rosamund Pike wore our jewelry at the Critics’ Choice awards, which was super exciting for us and we are very grateful to them for that. Off the red carpet, Salma Hayek has a custom Ruby Body Chain that she wore in St. Barts over New Years, Melanie Griffith wears a White Diamond Body Chain, Amanda de Cadenet has a Diamond Heart Body Chain and Cassie Ventura wears a Black Diamond Body Chain.

YS: Do you think you have to have a certain body type to wear body chains? What’s the best way to wear them?
SH: Anyone can wear a body chain. I have found through my own personal use as well as others that wearing one enhances a woman’s femininity and sensuality, and gives an empowering sense of self regardless of the shape and size. They can be worn against the skin or over clothing, both ways are very comfortable. I wear mine 24/7…swimming in the ocean, sleeping, and everything else!
