Lily-Rose Depp Lives Up to Her Name at the Met Gala

For pure prettiness, no one on the Met Gala red carpet could hold a candle to Lily-Rose Depp. Other attendees may have chosen to go weird or wild, but Depp’s elegant gown was the perfect alternative to the edgier fare. The budding actress’s candy-color Chanel look was a frothy confection of a dress in a rich shade of pink. Detailed with oversize silver camellias and a creeping vine, Depp’s ensemble was unapologetically feminine and off-theme.
Though Depp’s choice of bright rose may seem classic, the hue is far from traditional. Lest we forget, the Clash’s Paul Simonon famously dubbed pink the “only true rock ’n’ roll color” and designers including Rei Kawakubo have used it in unexpected, rebel-rousing ways. At once bold and alluring, Depp’s look more than proves pink’s power.
