Liam Payne’s Sister Defends Cheryl’s Wedding Outfit As She Hits Back At Online Trolls

Cheryl made the headlines when she appeared with Liam Payne at his sister’s wedding, and while many people transformed into the heart-eye emoji over the photos, others focused on criticising the singer’s wardrobe choice.

Never one to shy away from a bold style statement, the 32-year-old made an uncharacteristically low-key appearance in a grey-coloured Rick Owens maxi dress with a high neckline and short sleeves, paired with Saint Laurent heels.

Ensuring that none of the spotlight wasn’t taken from the beautiful bride, her make-up and hair was subtle and simple (but still stunning) too, keeping her luscious locks tied back into a low ponytail.

Unfortunately though, her style choices came under fire with some social media users branding the look ‘plain’ and ‘boring’ – causing Liam’s sister and newly married Ruth Gibbons to slam critics in an angry Twitter tirade.

She captioned the lengthy message that surpassed the 140-character limit: “Sorry but had to say something, im just a normal girl who married my childhood sweetheart in my dream wedding (sic).”

In the message, Ruth took the opportunity to defend the fashion choices at the wedding, while dubbing Cheryl “one of the most beautiful women in the world.”

She began: “Did something I shouldn’t and read comments on online articles about my wedding. What a sad world we live in where people tear strips off each other for no reason.”

Then added: “I also had no say over what any guest wore to my wedding, I don’t know who does have a say but considering my brother’s girlfriend is one of the most beautiful women in the world she can wear anything and still look stunning as she did at my wedding.”

GIRL POWER! <3

The bride had something else to add; because people had also apparently body shamed her in a series of hurtful comments.

“I loved my wedding dress, I felt like a princess, I also lost 3st to feel as beautiful as I did in it, that was hard work when I’m naturally a chunky girl, not everyone needs to be a size 10 to get married,” she wrote.

Then concluded: “There’s enough hate in the world without people writing nasty stuff about people they don’t know.”

Well said, Ruth!
