Lady Gaga Is Designing a Doggie Clothing Line

Not since Anna Wintour persuaded Marc Jacobs and Thakoon to create dog accessories for Obama’s 2012 campaign have canines had the opportunity to dress so chic: Lady Gaga is creating a line of puppy clothes and food.
Or… her French bulldog is?
After allegedly stealing her mother’s phone—quite a feat, without thumbs—Asia (full name: Miss Asia Kinney, after her dad Taylor Kinney) took to Gaga’s Instagram account to announce that… she has an announcement to make! In chronological order, the captions went like this:
“I stole Mommy’s cellphone and will be posting photos all day long. I HAVE A BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! I love to eat while I sketch my ideas for the fashionable puppy line I’m starting! I get hooked up with the finest in puppy products, so I really have a knack for what’s quality. My vision is to find creative & functional ways for pets and their owners to bond! ORGANIC GRAIN-FREE LOCAL FARM INGREDIENTS are the best for our body and brain. That’s what I eat! That’s why I’m inspired to also create A Pet Food Line.”
Wow, what a long-winded, eloquent animal! But that’s not all: Asia also revealed that she’ll soon be joining the ranks of Gisele Bundchen and Kate Moss. That’s right—she’s becoming a model!
“Keep a look out for a special announcement,” Asia continued. “I’m the star of a new campaign for a major luxury fashion brand. You never know, I could grace the pages of Italian Vogue. I love reading high fashion magazines and invisioning [sic] the clothes & accessories in dog sizes for my Pet Clothing Line.”
Watch out, Choupette Lagerfeld… it looks like there’s a new fashion-savvy fur baby in town.
Though there’s no word, yet, on which brand Asia will be fronting (Versace? Alexander Wang? Petco Couture?), if her personal style is any indication, her own clothing line will be pretty freaking sassy. See: Her velvet turban, bejeweled bonnet, her rosy collar with personalized charm, Russian-style fur hat, plush tennis visor, demure blouse, and of course, that darling pink headband and those sparkly ear gems. In one photo, Asia’s sitting in front of a sketch of herself, wearing what appears to be an eye mask with the word “POOCH” on it. Hmm…
Despite her outspoken love for fashion and young talent, Lady Gaga hasn’t really dipped her platform shoed foot in the design well—and dog clothes (and food) certainly seem like an odd start. So whether this is for real or just a bit of silliness, we’ll have to wait and see.
But one thing’s for sure: It’s safe to say that a lot of pups would appreciate their owners bringing home a Gaga-inspired doggie meat dress, if only as a tasty little treat.
