La La Anthony Says ’See-Through’ Postbreakup Met Gala Gown Is Her Riskiest Ever

La La Anthony might be using the Met Gala to make a statement.

On the red carpet, we asked the television personality what’s the biggest fashion risk she’s ever taken, and she promptly replied: “Probably this — see-through gown!”

Before she left her hotel, Anthony shared a behind-the-scenes snap of her Met Gala gown and captioned the photo with one word: “Unbreakable.” She also hashtagged #metgala.

It seems that she’s sending a message with this bold look, and we’re reading it loud and clear: Even though she’s going through a breakup, she wants the world to know she’s unbreakable.

In the photo, Anthony is standing in a hallway with a serious look on her face, wearing a sheer black gown. The top is tight with a high neck and long sleeves, but from the waist down, the dress flows, which she demonstrated by holding up the skirt. The dress has a broken-glass pattern, and it has more intricate detailing in patches.

Her hair is pulled back with hair sticks going through a plait on top of her head.

Don’t let the dress pattern fool you — Anthony is one tough cookie, and her recent wardrobe proves it. Anthony made her first public appearance since news broke of her separation from husband Carmelo Anthony last week, and she looked polished and chic. At the Tribeca Film Festival Luncheon and Award Ceremony in New York City, Anthony wore a white, sleeveless Open Ceremony dress and Christian Louboutin heels. Her 20-carat, oval-cut diamond wedding ring was noticeably missing.

This understated look was a departure from her usual metallics: thigh-high boots, cutout dresses, and neon shoes. “I just wear what I feel,” Anthony told Vogue. OK, we can assume that these recent outfits do symbolize her emotions.

“This woman might have chosen a long white dress to convey the idea of angelic innocence in stark comparison to infidelity and the stigma that’s attached to strippers,” Jonathan Alpert, a Manhattan-based psychotherapist and author of Be Fearless, told Yahoo Style of her Tribeca look. This is in reference to the rumors that Carmelo cheated on La La, including with a stripper.

Tonight, she’s looking anything but virginal. Clearly, she feels strong and sexy, and it looks good on her.
