Kim Kardashian knows how to break the internet. And the reality star is back doing just that with a newly released image from a fashion (or lack thereof) shoot with acclaimed photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot.

For the image, which will be featured in a new book from the pair known colloquially as simply Mert and Marcus, the 36-year-old is seen climbing a tree and wearing nothing but hiking boots (and, for the Instagram censors, black stars strategically covering her chest).

“So honored to have been photographed by Mert and Marcus for their book new book! 20 years in the making! It’s out Sept 7th,” the reality star captioned the post.

Needless to say, Kardashian’s racy display has sent social media into a frenzy, with the Instagram attracting more than 1 million likes in less than a day. And while she has a lot of fans who dig it, there’s also the critics, some of whom found the picture particularly offensive in light of Hurricane Harvey’s destruction, the DACA repeal, and other monumental events.

In March last year, Kardashian caused quite a stir when she shared a selfie on Twitter, and she later defended her decision to do so in a candid post.

She wrote: “I am empowered by my body. I am empowered by my sexuality. I am empowered by feeling comfortable in my skin. I am empowered by showing the world my flaws and not being afraid of what anyone is going to say about me. And I hope that through this platform I have been given, I can encourage the same empowerment for girls and women all over the world.”

She also added: “The body-shaming and slut-shaming — it’s like, enough is enough. I will not live my life dictated by the issues you have with my sexuality.”
