Kate Middleton Turns a Tea Party Into a Major Fashion Moment

You don’t have to be a duchess to dress like one.

Great garden party style needn’t include fussy florals or a lofty price tag. Just ask Kate Middleton. When the Duchess of Cambridge hosted a tea party on the grounds of Buckingham Palace on Saturday, she turned the gathering into a major fashion moment for under $500.

Middleton’s dress is from See by Chloé—the French brand’s affordable little sister line—and comes in at $460. The lace cut-out bodice lent the monochromatic palette a sense of texture, while the long sleeves read ladylike and demure. The jersey fabric, on the other hand, was casual enough for day, and the swingy pleated skirt was ultra-flattering no matter what the occasion. She cinched her waist with an Acne Studios belt in the same shade and found her footing in a pair of Moonsoon wedge espadrilles.
