The New England Patriots pulled off an incredible comeback in Super Bowl LI, beating the Atlanta Falcons in overtime, 34-28. One of the most notable plays of the game? Patriots’ wide receiver Julian Edelman‘s insane fourth-quarter catch that shocked viewers across the nation.

“It was one of the greatest catches I’ve ever seen,” quarterback Tom Brady said. “I don’t know how the hell he caught it.”

The catch was so widely discussed that Edelman decided to make a shirt about it for his online merchandise store. He posted a snapshot of the T-shirt on his Instagram channel.

The $29.99 T-shirt depicting the epic moment appears to be well loved by the player’s fans. Many reflected on the catch in the comments. “That was awesome and amazing! Great comeback Super Bowl with my fav boys! Thank you from a fan! The Pats Rock!” user Alisha commented. “That catch made my night! Amazing,” Sara Duquette wrote.

Many also commented that they were excited to purchase the shirt. “I need one that’s #1 in my shopping list,” Shimler Fortil wrote. “Already ordered this shirt for @patriots_rob90 and I! Can’t wait to wear it around CA!” user Marilyn J. Leigh commented.

Shortly after the Patriots’ victory, Edelman’s team also put up another T-shirt relating to their big win, which played off the popular Netflix series Stranger Things.

Edelman wasn’t the only player to create merchandise relating to their win. Tom Brady’s TB12 team added a T-shirt to celebrate his five Super Bowl rings to his merchandise store.

It’s not uncommon for professional athletes to heavily publicize their merchandise on their popular social channels. New York Giants player Odell Beckham Jr. recently posted a link to a $200 “OBJ13 Sweetheart Gift Bundle,” which features apparel and accessories emblazoned with his name.

Marketing player merchandise, especially after big games like the Patriots’ Super Bowl win, is a profitable and smart business strategy. Musicians, social media stars, and other celebrities do it all the time to build their brand and reach wider audiences.
