Jon Bon Jovi Launches Denim Brand for Guys Who Don’t Do Skinny Jeans

By Megan Gustashaw.

Jon Bon Jovi has worn some incredible jeans in his day. The kind of torn-to-shreds, bleached-to-hell, patched and embroidered denim that retails for over a grand in 2017. But the rock legend, now 54 years old, is not about that vibe anymore. His new denim line (because how can you call yourself a musician and not have merch?), called Hart n Dagger, is for guys who hung up their acid-washed skinny jeans a long, long time ago. It’s for George Clooney and maybe Ryan Lochte, and anyone who just wants to wear some straight-leg, lightly baggy denim and call it a day. (Barack and Jon are tight, maybe he’ll don a pair with his new custom-made Jordans.)

While the ankle bunch-factor happening with these jeans isn’t something we can completely endorse, the 100% cotton, Cone Mill fabrication and dark, uniform washes are hard to find fault with. The line also includes smart-looking denim workshirts and basic T-shirts and knitwear all made in the U.S.A. “with swagger”, according to the brand’s website. Prices top out at $280 for a black cotton turtleneck, made of Italian yarn in Los Angeles, while denim retails for $275.

Direct-to-consumer basics brands and those that specialize in selvedge denim are a dime a dozen these days but there’s a guy out there who will appreciate that these jeans happen to be blessed by the American hero who gave us Livin’ on a Prayer and Bed of Roses. And we totally get that—even if we wish Bon Jovi had gone full metal with this line.
