Céline Casts Joan Didion for Spring 2015 Campaign, Minds Explode

No brand’s as close to a fashion girl’s heart as Céline. Since Phoebe Philo took over in 2009, the British designer’s made her minimal, slouchy, aesthetic a uniform for millions of women—along with her favorite Adidas Stan Smith sneakers. Really, there’s little she could do to make the fashion world love her more. But one thing is cast beloved writer Joan Didion as the face of her Spring 2015 campaign. Philo did it, and fashion’s going crazy for the images. Didion wears a black knit dress, gold pendant, and her signature glasses in the Juergen Teller-lensed campaign. She looks cooler than any model who’s ever graced their ad campaign. (Sorry Daria Werbowy, we love you, but even you know it’s true.

Surprised? A Céline-Didion union actually makes perfect sense. Last month, on Didion’s birthday, we even wrote about how Didion-esque Philo’s resort collection looked. Clearly, if there’s anything we know about, it’s Céline and Joan Didion.
