Jennifer Lopez Was a Bit Off-Theme for the Met Gala but Looked Stunning Anyway

Jennifer Lopez may have missed the mark for this year’s Met Gala theme, but her outfit is still worthy of turning heads. In a light-blue caped Valentino gown, Lopez is looking a little more Elsa the Disney princess than Rei Kawakubo and the “Art of the In-Between.”

The dress itself has a deep-V neckline, and the cape, which covers the entire dress, front and back, has a high neck.

If only she had a braid, then we could be sure she mistook a birthday party invite from one of her twins’ friends for the coveted Met Gala invitation when prepping her outfit.

But Lopez’s hair is pulled half up, the rest billowing over her gown, and she added even more ice with Harry Winston jewels, including thick hoop earrings.

Lopez looks ethereal, while many of the other attendees look a little more otherworldly. But we still love her look, even if she did bow out of the fun challenge of nailing the Met Gala theme.

Maybe this is just an alternative interpretation of Kawakubo’s label Comme des Garçons, and she wouldn’t be the only one — it seems Elle Fanning has the same exact idea…

In any event, J.Lo took this opportunity to take her man out on the town; she and boyfriend Alex Rodriguez are making their red carpet debut at the Met Gala in his and hers Valentino — and we wouldn’t have it any other way. The retired baseball player coordinated with his boo in blue. His navy tux had black lapels, and he paired it with a bow tie. The two were arm in arm on the red carpet. Lopez shared a photo of them in the car, with the caption: “Me and my macho bello…#MetGala2017 #Valentino.”
