Casinos might be havens for debauchery — but that doesn’t mean there aren’t dress codes. A woman was escorted out of the Potawatomi Hotel and Casino in Milwaukee after security said her shorts were too short.

Becky Paszkiewicz was wearing denim cutoffs, black Converse sneakers, and a hooded sweatshirt when, after about 20 minutes at the venue, she was asked to leave. Officials said her bottoms didn’t pass the “fingertip rule,” which requires a hemline reach the fingertips when one’s arms are placed by their side.

“They suggested we buy leggings from the gift shop, and then at one point he suggested I take off my hoodie and wrap it around my waist,” Paszkiewicz told CBS 58. “I told him then I’d be in a tank top, wearing less clothing than I am now.”

According to the casino’s house rules, appropriate clothing, including shoes and shirt, is required, while transparent or excessively revealing clothing and low, saggy pants that reveal undergarments are restricted from the floor.

“Everyone is looking at you like, ‘What did they do? What’s going on over here?’” Paszkiewicz said about the incident. “It was embarrassing to be treated like I did something wrong.”

After the incident gained attention on social media, the casino took to Facebook to issue a statement. “Potawatomi Hotel & Casino enforces a dress code as part of its security protocol. Unfortunately, what happened in this particular instance did not fall within the spirit of that dress code. We apologize for any embarrassment that this guest experienced as part of the incident. We will review the policy and take measures to make sure it is being appropriately enforced in the future.”

Although the casino was previously a regular hangout for Paszkiewicz, she has vowed to never return. “That sucked. That sucked a lot.”
