Janet Jackson is said to be divorcing her husband of five years, Qatari businessman Wissam Al Mana, the Mail on Sunday first reported. “Sadly, Janet and Wissam have decided that it wasn’t working and to go their separate ways,” an anonymous source told the publication. “They’re both busy people but determined to be good parents, even if they’re apart.”
Jackson, who canceled her tour this summer to “start her family” with Al Mana, had their son Eissa on January 3. “It’s amicable and Eissa will stay with his mother, who is basing herself in London,” continued the source.
The singer is usually cloak and dagger about her private life, but spurred rumors of divorce when she was spotted out in London this January without a ring, according to Page Six.
The Mail estimates Al Mana's net worth at four times that of Jackson's, and though a prenup isn't confirmed, TMZ speculated that the five-year mark tends to lead to a larger payoff.
Vanity Fair has reached out to Jackson's representative for comment.
