Gina Rodriguez of "Jane the Virgin" Scores a Fashion Campaign

E! Online has revealed that Gina Rodriguez, the Golden Globe-winning star of The CW comedy Jane the Virgin, has just landed her first big fashion campaign.

Rodriguez, 30, will appear in Kipling’s upcoming summer 2015 campaign, and has also been named a brand ambassador. And as it turns out, her connection to the Belgium-based bag and accessories line is personal.

“Kipling came into my life when I was a kid,“ she says. “We couldn’t afford it at the time, so I saved my allowance.” She ended up getting a forest green backpack in junior high, which she “kept forever.” “When [Kipling] came to me, it was like full circle. I mean, this is my childhood. This is the brand that I wanted to own when I was kid.”

It’s understandable—those little monkey charm things are adorable. I can only imagine that her level of elation right now is on par with how I’d feel if Skip-It asked me to be its spokesperson. #aspirations.

Congrats to you, G-Rod! We can’t wait to see the campaign.
