Infants Clamor for Crocs in the Wake of Prince George’s Sartorial Statement

On June 14, Prince George of Cambridge dressed for a day of sport. He layered a white polo shirt underneath a royal blue cardigan, paired it with navy blue shorts, and pulled on even darker blue Crocs. He grabbed his favorite toy and headed to Tetbury to watch his father, William, Duke of Cambridge, and his uncle, Prince Harry, play in the Gigaset Charity Polo Match at the Beaufort Polo Club.

The next day, England went crazy for Crocs. George’s style is the Crocband, and the head of vendor management at Amazon UK tells WWD that the $54 shoe has seen a 1,500 percent rise in sales. “We’ve seen a 16-fold increase in sales of kids’ Crocband shoes at Amazon.co.uk since the photo of him wearing a pair was released,” she tells the paper.

George is taking after his mother, who can move just about anything off shelves. In fact, everything she wears is reported as selling out “within minutes.” From a red Goat dress she wore last year to a black and white polka-dot dress by ASOS she wore while pregnant with Princess Charlotte. Not to mention the navy Madderson London shift — after she wore that one, its website crashed.

Just imagine what will happen when Charlotte starts making public appearances!
