When you have a barney with your other half, you might expect a bit of sulking, stomping off to the pub or stealing the last slice of cake. But what you likely wouldn’t expect is to find yourself listed on eBay.

But that’s exactly what happened to Leandra, 27. After an argument with her husband, Simon O’Kane, 33, the father-of-two decided to sell his ‘Used Wife’ on the bidding site.

“I came in after work feeling a bit tired and unwell – my wife was doing the usual concerned bit but said I was burning the candle at both ends and was basically just whining at me,” Simon told Daily Mail.

“I thought: 'Right, I’m going to put you up for sale’.”

Simon posted the listing using the title ‘Used Wife’, alongside a picture of Leandra and a tongue-in-cheek description.

“For sale one wife,” he wrote. “Not new has been used but still got some good miles left in her.”

“Reason for selling … I’ve had my fill and feel like there HAS to someone out there that is more deserving of her [than] me (oh dear god please let there be.)”

Going on to list Leandra’s body work and paint work as still in decent condition, he went on to say she had some skills in the kitchen, before listing her bad points:

“Often makes this noise that cannot be silenced unless you order brand new shiny parts of metal,” he quipped.

“Sometimes them skills in the kitchen result in you ending up in hospital. All in all not a bad model for the year. I’m sure some lucky guy will get lots of use.”

He finished the post inviting people to make him an offer before joking that he might consider a part exchange for a younger model.

“*T&C’s Once bought, you cannot return … EVER!” he concluded.

But it seems Simon did a good job of selling his wife in the description as she managed to tot up 57 bids, with the highest bidder offering a whopping £65,888.

But despite the high bidding, Leandra wasn’t exactly thrilled to find her husband had listed her on the site.

“I was absolutely fuming – I wanted to kill him,” she told Daily Mail.

“Everyone at work saw it and were laughing their heads off. Not only did he put me up for sale but he used such a bad photo.”

Thankfully it wasn’t long before eBay removed the post and hopefully saved the pair’s marriage in the process!
