Consider this the dog-sled-racing equivalent of 50-yard-line seats in the Super Bowl – only you have the only seat. If you live for the Iditarod in Alaska and want to get as close to the race as possible, you and a friend can buy a VIP package that takes you there for a cool $35,000.

The Burled Arch Extravaganza package will go to just one bidder, and you can choose the “buy it now” option on the Iditarod auction website. The two lucky people who go for the March 5 race, which covers almost 1,000 miles of treacherous terrain from Anchorage to Nome, will get all of the following:

  • Round-trip airfare from Anchorage to Nome.

  • Two nights at the Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage for the start of the race, plus an extra night after the race.

  • Three nights at the Aurora Hotel in Nome for the end of the race.

  • The chance to watch the Iditarod winner cross the finish line in Nome from a VIP gate, then take a photo with the winner under the famous Burled Arch.

  • An insider’s tour of Iditarod operations in Nome.

  • If weather permits, a flight from Nome to White Mountain to see the race from one of the checkpoints.

  • A whole lot of other race-related goodies and swag.

For those who would rather bid on something more affordable, you can also seek to buy a seat from an Iditarod musher’s sled. Bidding on those starts at $750.
