How to Dress '70s Chic
Yes the era that taste forgot is back with a vengeance but I personally don’t think it ever went out. In fact, Instagram’s best filters feature seventies sunset style light, festival fashion is all about hippy chic dresses and plenty of fringe, and who doesn’t fancy a bit of chest hair and moustache (on a man that is!)? The era was first revived when designer Hedi Slimane joined Saint Laurent back in the spring of 2013 when he sent models down the runway in long, flowy dresses. This spring a bunch of other like Tom Ford, Chloe, and Gucci are bringing us the best in fringe, suede, patchwork, flares and platforms.
We asked Sasha Sarokin, a senior buying manager from Net-A-Porter what are the 3 basics you will need to kick-start this throwback style now.
1. The A-line skirt. It doesn’t have to be a mini but the shape is what is important here.

2. A pair of trousers. You can either go very literal with the flares or you can do a wide leg with a high waist, which is generally very flattering on most bodies.

3. A maxi skirt. For the softer side of this trend.

Sarokin explains, “The focus should be on the bottoms because you can be quite basic on top. If you have a T-shirt or a button down shirt, you can pair it with any of the ABOVE items and you will still feel the trend.”
