Why She’s Our Crush: Not your average-looking beauty, Issa first caught our eye when she photographed for the cover of Vogue Italia by Steven Meisel. We’re enchanted by her Japanese-Mexican heritage, which gives off a 1960s-era Cher-like quality with her long limbs and straight raven locks.
Backstory: Issa was first discovered at 14 years old when she was working in her dad’s sushi restaurant in Mexico City.
Where You’ve Seen Her: Aside from the Vogue cover, Issa has stomped the runways for Saint Laurent, Prada, Miu Miu, Alexander McQueen, Céline, and quite a few others. She’s also currently fronting the Coach and Balmain campaigns. No big deal.
Phone Home: She was called “Issa alien” by her teachers at school and the moniker has stuck. Her Instagram is, in fact, @issalien. And yes, she posts a lot of alien pics too.
