Today marks Reese Witherspoon’s on-screen journey in the film Wild. Based on a true story, her character Cheryl Strayed treks from the Mojave Desert to Washington State along the Pacific Crest Trail with one large backpack filled with an array of equipment and a pair of REI hiking boots, which she had replaced mid-trip (the company used to replace anything- for life). From desert plains to lush greenery, Strayed’s gear not only carried her life, but the burden of her personal struggles, compelling her to take a hike.
