While Insta-adorable duos like Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, and Jenna and Channing Tatum seem to be everyone's current #couplegoals, let's not forget one of our OG favorite famous pairs, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar. The '90s heartthrob and the former vampire slayer slayed our teenage hearts back in the day—and these two crazy kids are still at it! After they met on the set of 1997's I Know What You Did Last Summer, the pair wed in 2002 and have been making us melt ever since. Now, on their 15th year of marriage (crazy, right?), Freddie Prinze Jr. is sharing the secret to their goals-worthy relationship and what makes it—in his words—so "cool and groovy." See the adorable photo here.
While we may or may not still be bitter that Buffy didn't end up with Angel, her I Know What You Did Last Summer on-screen sweetheart is definitely the next best thing! "We were just friends. That's one of the reasons I think our relationship has always been so good," Freddie Prinze Jr. recently told E! News of meeting his wife on the set of the '90s horror flick. "We were just friends for a good two years before we ever went on a date. She knew what kind of guy I was. She knew what my morals were, what my priorities were, and visa versa. We already kind of knew all the faults in the other person."
"We ended up being the perfect balance," the actor continued. "But it didn't happen until years after and there was a solid foundation built, and that's probably the main reason why we've always been cool and groovy."
Since their cool and groovy (can you tell that's our new favorite phrase?) 2002 Mexico destination wedding, the two have expanded their family to include a daughter, Charlotte, 7, and son, Rocky, 4. And according to Prinze, laughter is a big part of what makes their marriage work.
"As long as they can make you laugh, laughter lasts forever," he said. "If you just think she's hot or she just thinks you're hot, you're in a lot of trouble when you're 60!"
