Australian ex-model Carolina Arthur is about to get back at everyone who used to call her “Caroline the Power Line.” At 6-foot-2, with legs that measure 51.5 inches from her hip to her heel, she may be about to break the Guinness World Record for longest legs in the world.
“I believe that they are definitely the longest in Australia and, as far as I know, in America too,” said Arthur. In an interview with Barcroft Media, she hinted that she was aiming to inch up on current World Record holder Svetlana Pankratova, who stands at 6-foot-5 with 51.9 inch legs. “When I realized that my legs might be the longest in the world, I was super excited,” she said. “I think being so close, it’s worth contacting [the Guinness Book of World Records] and finding out.”
With legs that measure almost 4-foot-3, Arthur beats out model and viral internet celebrity Dong “Tui Tui” Lei, whose nickname literally translates to “long legs.” If Arthur hopes to go for the record, she’ll also have to measure up against 6-foot-4 model Lauren Williams, America’s current record holder. In an appearance on Live! With Kelly and Michael, famously petite Kelly Ripa poked fun at what it’s like to stand next to one of the tallest women in the world. “Yeah, so yesterday, we talked about the model with the longest legs. You know her legs are all the way up to my nipples. Not kidding. That’s true. That’s where her legs stop,” said Ripa.
For Williams, height was never much of a concern. “Pretty regularly, I have people comment on how tall I am or how longs my legs are,” she commented on Live. “I don’t recall a time when I realized I had such long legs. It was just always something about me.”
For Arthur’s part, she opened up about how her height has been the source of body image issues in the past — despite her current career as a model. “I did feel awkward and unattractive and I had a real stage that I didn’t feel beautiful,” she said. “I can honestly say that now as a 39-year-old woman, I am the most secure in my own skin that I have ever been.”
Another issue she’s faced? Finding clothes that fit. “I had to buy clothes that were way too big around my waist to get the length in,” she revealed.
The public relations team at Guinness confirms that Arthur doesn’t have an official application in — yet.
