Even Scientists Are Dying to Know Karl Lagerfeld’s Secret

Scientists hate him!

Karl Lagerfeld, the man behind Chanel, Fendi, and his own namesake line, seems to show no sign of slowing down, despite him being 82-ish years old.

Prior to showing Chanel’s airport-themed spring 2016 collection in Paris, the senior designer—who says his contracts with both Fendi and Chanel are “for life"—spoke with Vogue UK editor-in-chief Alexandra Shulman about the fact that he “[doesn’t] feel tired at all.”

According to Lagerfeld, it’s not just the fashion industry that’s amazed by his endurance, but the medical community, as well. He tells Shulman that he was once approached to undergo DNA testing, in an attempt to explain his unwavering energy and functionality, when so many octogenarians are keen to revel in their retirement.

But his answer was a firm “Nein.”

“I was asked by somebody to do this, because they think I’m not normal,” he says. “But I flatly refused. Unique pieces are unique pieces. But I think very flattering, huh?”

People are also befuddled by his unwrinkled visage. (Though, who can really tell with those big sunglasses he’s always wearing?)

“Also I was asked for skincare for men because they think I am remade,” Lagerfeld explains. “But I am not remade. I am all fake, but not remade.”

Frankly, we’re pretty surprised that he hasn’t released his own line of Karl-branded men’s skincare and/or energy drinks. We’d imagine they’d be top sellers.
