A photograph of a groom whispering in the ear of his tearful bride has tugged at the heartstrings of even the most unromantic.

The image was posted on Facebook April 30th, by Australian photographer James Day and features a couple named Adrian and Roslyn at their Bowral wedding.

“Tonight I was photographing Adrian & Roslyn at sunset,” wrote Day on the photo that received 169K reactions and nearly 38K shares. “I was setting up those grand sunset scenes… you know the ones… the little people in a big scene… I love those kinda shots… but tonight that just didn’t seem enough.”

He continued, “Just as the light became amazing I scrapped everything I knew and I walked up to them and said, ‘Guys, stop posing. Just enjoy your first sunset together as husband and wife.’ They then held each other in the most beautiful way… It was so much more beautiful than anything I could ever set up.”

Then the photographer said to Adrian, “‘I have a question for you, but I want you to tell the answer to Roslyn and not me. Out of the billions of people on the planet, you’ve chosen to spend the rest of your life with Roslyn. Can you tell her why?'”

Soon thereafter, Day “could start seeing Roslyn’s eyes glisten, then the most beautiful tears streamed down her face.” Then, Day found himself crying.

On Facebook, the photo is being called “raw,” rare, and heartfelt.

Day did not respond to Yahoo Style’s request for comment, however he told the Huffington Post of the couple’s secret, “It wasn’t for me to hear. I had him whisper it in her ear because it’s for her ears only. I like that they were able to share that moment privately ― well, until it went viral on the internet.” He added that the session ended with the photographer and the couple in an embrace.

While every wedding photo is unique, a few images have resonated with the public for their emotional pull. In January, a couple named Celia and Geff Kinzel in Columbus, Ohio wed at Nationwide Children’s Hospital where their 2-year-old son Logan was being treated for brain cancer. A black-and-white image of the newlyweds carrying their son down a hospital hallway went viral on Instagram. “There wasn’t anything sad about it,” Celia told Us Weekly. “We were worried that Logan would get sick during the ceremony. But it was the first day that he was full of energy, really happy, really talkative. He was ready to see people and be there.”

And in 2015, a photo of a North Carolina Marine and his new wife praying in their wedding attire only minutes before their Memorial Day ceremony, was called “blue ribbon material” and an “awesome” way to start a life together.

I have photographed alot of weddings. This has to be one of the best things i have ever got to see much less…
