Chris Pine, John Cho, and Karl Urban Matched at the Comic-Con ‘Star Trek Beyond’ Premiere
For women, having a “twinning” moment on a red carpet generally results in catastrophe. Tabloids print “Who Wore It Best?” articles and the Internet launches polls pitting the two stars against each other, always resulting in someone’s fashion feelings getting hurt. But the same obviously doesn’t apply for the boys because adventurous suiting is still mostly for the Justin Biebers of the world. This double standard is definitely unfair. So to give the guys a taste of what it’s like, Chris Pine, John Cho, and Karl Urban, who all wore shades of blue at the Wednesday-night premiere of Star Trek Beyond, will be subjected to the sartorial criticism their counterparts constantly deal with.
Karl Urban
Karl Urban, who plays Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy, looked very professional in a three-piece suit. The blue had a very subtle checkered pattern to it, which he paired with a striped tie and baby blue pocket square. He gets an A minus for the subtle detailing.
John Cho
The old adage says that blue and black should never be seen unless it’s in the washing machine. But Cho broke the fashion rule and it wasn’t a total loss. By taking a risk, he certainly gets points, but the black satin tie was a little too shiny and didn’t complement the linen material of the suit. Cho gets a B.
Chris Pine
Look beyond the interesting facial hair and you’ll see that Chris Pine is a fairly dapper and well-dressed fella. His tie bar was a nice touch, but it was the blue suede shoes that really set him apart. Pine gets an A, thereby making him the man with the top mark, for his Elvis Presley–inspired kicks.
