Ceng Xin-mei: From GMA winner to bun seller

7 Dec - She has released multiple albums and won two Golden Melody Awards accolades throughout her career, but Taiwanese singer Ceng Xin-mei recently decided to leave her glamorous career for a job as a bun seller.

As reported on Epoch Times, the 46-year-old singer, who started a steam bun business, revealed that she is not worried about leaving showbiz for such an unglamorous job as it gives her much more satisfaction.

Ceng admitted that she used to be hard on herself and let public opinion hurt her so much to the point that she almost committed suicide.

However, the singer had since changed her attitude and way of thinking, saying, "I am now ugly with dignity."

Being an eldest daughter of a poor family, Ceng shared that she would often help her parents at the market in the past. She would also perform in order to make a living, saying that she was so focused on making money and earning more for her family.

She had since changed that part of herself as well, saying, "I am still interested in singing, but I can't sing for a lifetime."

And while she doesn't make a lot more money selling buns 12 hours a day in comparison to performing as a singer, Ceng said that she felt a more sense of accomplishment.
