Cate Blanchett & Other Celebrities Have Sacrificed Their Underwear for Fashion

There’s a reason the Grammy Awards implemented a dress code banning overly risqué outfits: Rihanna’s see-through ruffle-striped Jean Paul Gaultier gown from the designer’s Spring 2011 Haute Couture collection pushed the limits.

Following in Jennifer Lopez’s footsteps, Toni Braxton wore what looks like white strips of fabric strategically draped over her private parts to the Grammys. While the dress looked like a longer, silkier version of a cavewoman strap, designer Richard Tyler actually sewed a thong into it to hold it down. Phew.

To make up for the lackluster movie, Kate Hudson wowed on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival wearing an Atelier Versace gown from the Fall 2012 collection.
