Calvin Klein Is Shaking Things Up

By the end of 2016, fashion is going to look a lot different. The year designers played musical chairs — Alexander Wang leaving Balenciaga, Alber Ebaz out at Lanvin, Raf Simons departing Dior, and more — continues with the latest announcement from Calvin Klein. On Tuesday, the company said in a press release that Francisco Costa, Women’s Creative Director, Calvin Klein Collection, and Italo Zucchelli, Men’s Creative Director, Calvin Klein Collection, will both be leaving the company.

The change in command comes along with the news that the company’s implementing a new global strategy for the company, which will unify all its brands. This shift follows Burberry, Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan, and other businesses doing the same.

“This creative strategy marks the beginning of another significant chapter inCalvin Klein’s brand legacy since Mr. Klein’s retirement,” Steve Shiffman, CEO of Calvin Klein, Inc. said in a statement. “I would like to thank Francisco and Italo for their unwavering commitment to theCalvin Klein brand and their accomplishments over the past decade. They have both contributed immensely to makingCalvin Klein a global leader in the fashion industry, and they have done so with dedication, focus and creativity.”

Calvin Klein had a significant 2015. The company brought on a slew of social media influencers, most notably Justin Bieber and Kendall Jenner. The former’s participation has been directly correlated with an increase in sales.
